Part of our mission at Chance Brown Real Estate is to create lasting relationships with the communities we serve. As part of our ongoing social commitment, we set aside 10% of all corporate dollars to a fund dedicated to supporting local and national charities. We also set aside a portion of our time to several local organizations. Below is a list of the four main groups we support, why we chose them, and other organizations that we are proud to have supported throughout the years.
The Sam Houston State University College of Business Administration
SHSU is where it all began for Chance. The entrepreneurial spirit was lit there, the commitment to being a servant leader, and the opportunity to meet people who gave him the education, leadership opportunities, and real-life skills to be successful. We believe in the old adage, “Dance with the one who brung ya”, and if it wasn’t for the good folks at SHSU, we might not have had a dance partner. As such, we are in the process of setting up a scholarship fund designed to fuel tomorrow’s leaders.
The Rose
The Rose is the Houston area’s leading non-profit breast cancer organization providing mammography screening, diagnosis, access to treatment and support to all women regardless of their ability to pay. They are also the exclusive provider of breast care services for local veterans being treated at the Michael D. DeBakey Veterans’ Administration Hospital in Houston. Chance’s mother and mother-in-law are both breast cancer survivors and his wife is a mammographer at a local hospital. Needless to say, we are committed to helping people affected by this disease and hope to help researchers find a cure sooner than later.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association – Houston
One of Chance’s first jobs out of college was as a fund raiser for MDA and it has held a special place in his heart since then. The neuromuscular diseases that the MDA fights take a terrible toll on the families affected by them. MDA provides not only research to help find a cure but a whole host of services to these families from access to world-class doctors, to equipment assistance, a summer camp for Jerry’s Kids, and so much more. Chance’s wife also lost a family member to ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), one of the MDA family of diseases.
The Marine Corps – Law Enforcement Foundation
As the son of a United States Marine, the men and women serving our nation are important to Chance. The Marine Corps – Law Enforcement Foundation provides college scholarships to the children and dependents of our soldiers who give the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. To date, they have provided over $43,000,000 in scholarships to the children of soldiers and federal law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty. At the end of the day, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do if it wasn’t for the brave men and women serving this nation and we feel a responsibility to give back to them and their families.
